Shawn H. Head is the founder and Managing Member of Head Murphy Law and a Metro Detroit litigator who represents business owners, executives, professionals, and families in high-stakes business disputes, probate and trust litigation, and criminal matters. For nearly two decades, he has helped clients enforce their rights, defend against unfounded claims and charges, and resolve conflicts that threaten their companies, their reputations, their family legacies, and their freedom.
Shawn’s practice centers on business litigation, including partnership and shareholder disputes, non-compete and non-solicitation enforcement, breach of contract, franchise disputes, and on probate and trust litigation, including contested estates, trust disputes, and breach of fiduciary duty claims. He also maintains an active criminal defense practice, representing clients facing felony and misdemeanor charges, including Operating While Intoxicated (OWI). Clients rely on him to move quickly when time matters, and to find the procedural, statutory, and evidentiary leverage that ends litigation and weak prosecutions early.
Pairing aggressive advocacy with practical judgment, he evaluates every matter in light of the client’s unique business and personal goals, not just the legal claim, and pursues the path that best protects what matters most, whether that is a win in the courtroom or a favorable negotiated resolution.
After graduating Cum Laude from Central Michigan University with a criminal justice-based sociology degree, Shawn earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Recognized repeatedly as one of Metro Detroit’s Top Lawyers (2014-2026) by DBusiness Magazine and named a Super Lawyers Selectee for 2023-2026—an honor given to only 5% of Michigan attorneys—Shawn combines respected legal skill with a personal commitment to his clients’ success.
When he isn’t in court or with clients, Shawn enjoys working out, and traveling with his wife, children, and close friends. He is also striving to improve his golf game from bad to mediocre.
